ENC in red represents the urgency of the emergency setting, where nurses must apply both intellectual and technical skills to make prompt decisions and take immediate action.
The gold background symbolises the “Golden Hour” in emergencies, highlighting the critical importance of timely care.
ENC also stands for Efficient, Nurturing, Caring, Committed, and Competent — key qualities that define an emergency nurse.
The Beginning:
The journey of the Emergency Nurses Chapter (ENC) began on 22 November 1993, when a small but passionate group came together with a shared vision:
The inauguration, held at the College of Medicine Building Auditorium, brought together nearly 300 participants, marking a strong and inspiring start. A seminar on the latest trends in resuscitation highlighted the Chapter’s commitment to advancing knowledge and clinical excellence.
The Chapter was led by its first Chairperson, the late Ms Josephine Teo, whose leadership laid the foundation for a strong and enduring community.
