The Division of Nursing and Midwifery of La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia, in cooperation with the Nurses Learning Hub Pte Ltd (NLH), a subsidiary of Singapore Nurses Association (SNA), has delivered the highly successful Bachelor of Nursing (Post-Registration) course for nurses in Singapore for the past 13 years.


 

Now, with its international recognition for quality educational programs and high academic standards, La Trobe University is pleased to offer the Master of Nursing degree in Singapore.

 

Master of Nursing (Professional)

Master of Nursing (Research Methods)


The Master of Nursing course at La Trobe University is one of its flagship professional programs, attracting great interest from highly qualified local applicants. The program has been further developed to allow flexible delivery mode enabling LTU to offer the course in Singapore.

The aim of this course is to provide students with the knowledge and skills that assists professional development within a nurse’s area of practice. It offers nurses the ability to design a study pathway that meets their career needs.

 

Degree Award

This course is equivalent to the Master of Nursing degree conducted by La Trobe University in Australia and students who complete the course will receive the same award. Upon successful completion of a minor thesis, students may be eligible for admission into a higher degree research program such as Doctor of Nursing or Doctor of Philosophy.

 

Course Structure

The Masters program is a 180 credit point program with exit options available at the Postgraduate Diploma level (120 credit points of study).

Students can choose from the Professional pathway (Independent Study Unit and Clinical Project) or Research Methods pathway (Nursing Thesis option).  Within both of these pathways, students may choose to focus on either Nursing & Clinical Education or Leadership & Management within the Health Care Environment.

Entry Requirements

Hold current Nursing Registration

Have at least one year of recent relevant nursing experience

Hold an approved Bachelor of Nursing degree

Applicants who have completed their pre-registration nursing education in a language other than English must provide evidence of their proficiency in the English language.

 

Application Requirements:

Please bring the ORIGINAL + 1 copy of the following documents:

  1. GCE 'O' Level (for Singaporeans)
  2. High School Certificate/equivalent AND RELC English Proficiency Certificate 
  3. Nanyang Polytechnic Diploma AND/OR Advance Diploma Certificate + Transcript
  4. Singapore Nursing Board Registration Certificate
  5. Singapore Nursing Board Practising Licence
  6. 1 Passport size photograph
  7. Registration fee (cash or cheque / money order only)

English Proficiency requirements:

  • IELTS BAND of 6.5 with individual bandS of at least 6.0; OR
  • at least a score of 575 with a score of 5 or better in the Test of Written English (paper-based); OR
  • 233 with a score of 5 in Essay Writing (computer-based); OR
  • 88 with no individual score less than 22 (internet-based) in the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL

 

Duration

Part-time over an approximately 26 months

 

Delivery Mode

This program will be provided in a flexible delivery mode supported by 112 hours of face-to-face contact and workshops conducted by La Trobe University academic staff and key industry leaders.  Students will receive additional support from their individual academic supervisors during the Independent Study Unit/Clinical Project and Nursing Thesis subjects.

 

Course Fees

Payment is due six weeks before the commencement of each semester (excluding GST).  The fee covers course notes, readings, handouts, assessment briefings, students fees and assessment fees.
