Dear Nursing Colleagues,

Each year, on the 12th of May, we celebrate International Nurses Day to commemorate Florence Nightingale’s birthday, and also to acknowledge the important work nurses are doing all around the world.

Nurses are the single largest profession in the health workforce and we are uniquely placed to be the people that are closest to our patients. As such, we are well positioned to drive efficiency and effectiveness improvements within healthcare while providing quality care.

This year the International Council of Nursing has chosen the theme “Nurses: A Force for Change: Care Effective, Cost Effective” which reiterates the important role Nurses can play, not only in patient care, but in the whole healthcare ecosystem.

I would like to urge all of you to continue the good work that you’re doing and to look out for opportunities within your organisations to provide the unique perspective that only we can provide, and to continue doing our part to drive healthcare forward.

I would also like to take this opportunity to introduce the SNA secretariat, based in SNA House, who will he happy to assist and support the needs of members. The team is led by Senior Manager, Mr. Sukhjit Singh together with Finance Manager Ms. Gina Siew and Executives, Ms. Calyn Poh (Nurses Learning Hub), Ms. Cindy Lim (Memberships) and Ms. Tiffany Tan (Events and Publications).

Once again I would like to wish all Nurses a very happy International Nurses Day and urge you to continue your good work.

Yours Sincerely,

A/Prof. Lim Swee Hia, SNA President,
and the SNA Executive Committee
